The 8th Grade Bulldogs wrapped up their season tonight. This one didn’t go quite the way we hoped but in traditional fashion there was effort shown throughout the night. After falling behind on the first Kickoff return for a TD, our initial drive stalled out in the red zone and Center Grove North marched down the field and scored again. Then the offense went back to work driving down the field and Abdulmaleek Alabi punched the ball into the end zone and our 2 point attempt failed so we trailed 14-6 at half. We got the ball first in the 2nd half but our initial drive didn’t go anywhere. Abdulmaleek used his canon of a leg and flipped the field with a nearly 50 yard punt with no return. The Trojans Wing T offense grinded down the field for another score. Then our offense answered the call and drove the field and Brody Woodruff capped off the drive with a TD run followed by another failed PAT. The comeback momentum did not last long though as we gave up another kickoff return for a TD and now we were battling the Trojans and the clock. We had to try and push tempo and take more risks that ultimately didn’t pan out for us on this night and the game ended with a score of 30-12. We played a 5th quarter and the energy from the entire team during the 5th quarter was exciting. Dallas McLaurin housed a 60 yard TD run on our first offensive possession. David Bester had a 25 yard run. Levi Armstrong threw a dime to Jacob Zuzzio gaining 30 yards. On the last play of our season, Levi Armstrong scrambled and found Kaicey Jones for a 25 yard TD reception and the crowd and sideline went crazy. It was certainly a wonderful representation of Brownsburg Bulldog Football Family as every single player supported their teammates to the very end. We outscored the Trojans by 2 Touchdowns in the 5th Quarter. We had many top notch offensive plays outside of the ones noted above tonight: Kingston Baker caught a crucial first down on a scoring drive. Nico Clark had an amazing pass breakup on Defense. Brandon Jones made several big plays on offense and defense. Souleyman Ouattara had a night across the middle of the field. As the season comes to an end, this Bulldog team has proven to be resilient. We had several players lost to injuries that we missed throughout the season and teammates continued to step up. The future of Brownsburg Football will continue to be bright and we are proud of our 8th Grade Brownsburg East Middle School young men and thankful for everyone who supported them on and off the field.
