The lights were bright at Zionsville West Middle School and your 8th Grade Bulldogs showed out beating the Eagles 32-16 with a dominant performance. After a quick 3 & out, Zionsville scored first and your Bulldogs answered with Brody Woodruff running for a TD followed by a Souleyman Ouattara 2 point conversion pass from Brody Woodruff. We entered halftime tied 8-8 and our team decided to increase their intensity and effort scoring on every drive in the second half until we lined up in Victory Formation. Brandon Jones hit pay dirt catching a TD pass from Brody Woodruff and Brody Woodruff ran in a 2 point conversion. Zionsville fought back with a TD and a 2 point conversion but it was all Bulldogs from there on out. Brandon Jones caught another TD from Brody Woodruff. Souleyman Ouattara caught another 2 point conversion. Abdulmaleek Alabi’s kickoff went deep and the Eagles returner couldn’t handle it. Cade Smith was right there to recover the fumble and the offense went back to work. After driving the field again Abdulmaleek Alabi would not be denied as he scored a rushing TD that was followed by a Brandon Jones 2 Point Conversion catch thrown by Brody Woodruff. Throughout the night there were big plays all over the place. Marcus Virgil had a big first down catch and run. Marcus Jackson had a huge catch and run. Gaven Allen, Cortland Marcus and Abdulmaleek Alabi all ran the ball hard. Souleyman Ouattara & Brandon Jones both were close to the 100 yards receiving mark for the night. The offensive line (Eli Kevlin, Juan Martinez, Bash Gutierrez, Kingston Baker, Mason Duncan and Zak Pappas) picked up their blocking in the second half giving Brody Woodruff the ability to manage drives and put the ball into the end zone over and over again. The defense also tightened their chinstraps and toughened up to start forcing turnover on downs giving the offense the ability to cook. Zak Pappas had 2 sacks, Imani Smith had a forceful TFL, Nico Clark & Brian Vaughn both defended passes and Levi Armstrong and Gaven Allen started holding down the middle while Micah Billups was making plays all over the field. Your 8th Grade Bulldogs wrap up their season next week at home vs Center Grove Middle School North at 5:30pm on Wednesday. They’d love to have you in attendance to cheer them on to victory! Go Dogs!
